9.) Let's Eat Some Sweets

Ice cream, cake, donnut, and shake are one of the most common known foods we know in the world. But did you know that there are more and more delicious sweet foods you can see in Seoul South Korea. Here are some three desserts that I can recommend to you and when you see it, your stomach may talk to you and say “Hey, cook it know I’m really hungry”.
Patbingsu (Red Bean Shaved Ice) 팥빙수

This is a korean shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings such as chopped fruit, condensed milk, fruit syrup, and red bean paste. This is my favorite dessert in all sweets you know in the world.  I don’t know why but I’m addicted to it, when I saw this on a picture there’s something pop on to my head saying ”I want this, I really want this” so I said to my mom to make this shaved ice and oh my gosh it’s really delicious. It’s the same as other desserts you know but try this it’s really yummy.

Hotteok

Hotteok, actually I didn’t try this but I saw this mostly in Korean dramas, variety game shows and food shows. So I get curious about this food. According to my research this is a sweet Korean pancake, hotteok is filled with a mixture of brown sugar, honey, chopped peanuts, and cinnamon. Seeing the ingredients, I can imagine that it’s really delicious. This is good to eat when it is winter in your country.

 Bungeoppang (The Other Fish Cake)

My Tita said that when the weather turns cold in Korea you can expect street vendors to start selling this warm and filling treat. This is translated to crucian carp bread, this is a fish-shaped cake that is filled with a semi-sweet red bean paste. It’s like a waffle, and tastes similar to one as well, and can sometimes come with other fillings like cream or sweet potato.

So these are some desserts that I want to share to you guys and I hope that when you visit Korea you may try these delicious sweet foods.

8.) SoM Week 2015

cr. RAM PAGE

Shouting, cheering, clapping are one of the most things you can see on the event. Students are going crazy, their cheering for their course and block just to enlightened the feels of the players they are cheering of.

Mr. and Ms. SoM are also the long awaited part of most students. The contestants really prepare there outfits, their glittering and shining costumes and dresses really standout on stage. There are like THE GOD AND GODDEST, walking and posing like professional models and they really did their best to be one of the final contestant. But for me they are all winners because I can see the efforts they do on stage like they give it all they can do.  And I congratulate the winners of Mr. and Ms. SoM 2015 they really deserve to win. On how they walk, pose, dance, and especially on how they answer the question.

There are a lot of activities happening in SoM week like in sportfest: basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, badminton, chess and games of generals and also some activity games of each SoM course like extreme, running man, and many more. But the most thing that I will never forget is that when we won (the chocolatey buddies) the 1ST PLACE in TMysteries. I and my other team mates didn’t really expect that we will get that place because there are so many groups it’s about 9 groups and they are also a great group. These

TMysteries is all about solving a case but a creepy case, like we will be a detectives. Were going to solve “where is Louisa Roberto?” These game will test the groups unity and being one on how they help each other to solve the case in 30 minutes or less. And we didn’t expect also that we finish the case in 12 minutes.

These SoM week is really the best. I hope that it will be the same and I hope that it will improve more like new things in our eyes that no one saw before.

7.) Parasyte

It’s a new day again, waking up, eat breakfast, take a shower then go to school. It’s our English Enrichment Program (EEPENG1) class and we are going to watch a movie, it’s part of our grade so it’s a must. And I don’t regret it, it’s really worth it to watch.

Parasyte, this is the title of the movie it is a japan movie and there is an anime version of it. I really love this movie, to the beginning until the end of the movie it’s really awesome. This is kind of a horror movie but with an action way.

A 17 years old boy Shinichi Izumi lives with his mother in Tokyo. One night, worm-like aliens called Parasytes invade Earth, and they take over humans by entering through their ears or noses to get to their brains. One Parasyte tries to crawl into Shinichi's ear while he is sleeping, but the teenager is wearing headphones so the parasyte enters his body through his arm instead! The parasyte named Migi ends up taking over Shinichi's right hand.
Because Shinichi was able to prevent Migi from traveling further up into his brain, both of them are able retain their separate intellect and personality. Migi has a power to sense his same creature. They end up fighting other Parasytes who attack them after realizing that Shinichi's human brain is still intact. These other Parasytes devour humans as food, and Shinichi ends up fighting them with Migi's help. As the two of them encounter more Parasytes, they end up forming a strong bond as they work together to survive.

Until there is a time that Shinichi’s mother was going home and he saw a police man laying down in a corner of street with a full of blood around him and it was Mr. A an infected man. Mr. A wants a new body and luckily he saw Shinichi’s mother and that is the time the alien go to Shinichi’s mother.

Shinichi doesn’t know anything, he’s just lying down on his bed until Migi sense something and it’s going closer to their house. And when the door’s open it’s Shinichi’s mother and he cannot believe it was her and he doesn’t want to kill her own mom so the infected mom kill Shinichi with her fast move. And luckily Migi think’s something just to revive Shinichi again he give a part of his body to Shinichi so he survive again.

And time goes by, so many things happen and Shinichi and her infected mother finally met and fight. And Shinichi won the fight.

All and all I felt sad because the movie was to be continued but there’s a part 2 of the movie and I can’t wait to watch it. I really recommend this to you guys It’s a GREAT, COOL, and AWSOME movie.

6.) APC's Anti-Smoking Campaign

Everyone knows that smoking is harmful and addictiveAs we all know, smoking is detrimental to our health. Every year a large amount of people die from diseases caused by smoking cigarettes such as lung cancers, heart diseases and stroke. There is a mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette. Which can cause an increase in your heart rate and blood pressure. It can also cause straining in your heart and blood vessels. Even though people know all these facts they still continue to smoke.

Most teenagers are smoking and it is because they want to look mature, to be like their friends, and to experiment. Since teens see older people all around them smoking, especially their parents and relatives, they smoke to act older. If their friends or peers smoke, they may feel pressured into doing the same to be accepted. The excitement of experimenting with something that is forbidden. Usually parents do not allow their underage teens to smoke. Therefore, smoking becomes very attractive. It is exciting to get cigarettes and sneak away to smoke without being caught.

This past few months, I observe that most smokers in our school are mostly higher levels. Whenever I’m going to take a shuttle bus I always see some of the students under the trees are smoking. I don’t really know why people specially college student’s love smoking. Maybe they may have a lot of stress and pressures because of economic and personal problems. They may be homeless, or they may be dealing with alcohol or cocaine/heroin addictions. Some may be in bad marriages or relationships in which there is physical and/or verbal abuse. All these people may smoke to feel relaxed or to give them energy while going through a hard time.

Good thing, Asia Pacific College (APC) developed an anti-smoking campaign. Through this, maybe it can change smokers mind (I hope so).

5.) Cheers and Chants

Cheers and chants is one of my most unforgettable moment I had in my life. It’s the best day ever. The sweats, hardship, tiredness and pressure we experience are all worth it. And the best part is, it’s our first time competition, competing with other School of Business and Accountancy (SOAB). I have a mixed emotion in my body the excitement, joyness, nervousness and many more. I feel like I’m going in a battle, fighting for our country and must win for the sake of those people who needs help.

I thought were not going to win, because there are so many good contestant and especially we are the last to perform, so there are many thoughts in my mind that makes me feel nervous. But we did our best. The eagerness of

our section, the fighting spirit of our section and the unity that our section give a good result. And guess what, we won 1ST RUNNER UP. And it makes me proud, not only to myself but for our section. Even if we didn’t get the champion place, I know that we did our very best on stage and we give all the strength we have to win.

This experience I had will be marked in my life forever. I will never forget this day. The teamwork of the group is the secret why we achieve this goal.  And I hope that for the next competition that we will join, I hope that the champion position is next. Our target is to be champion. Talent wins game, but teamwork and intelligence wins game. It’s really true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping each other to succeed. The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is a team. I hope we can keep improving and get them again.

4.) Ang tatay mong kalbo

Most of the stories start with a initial situation, conflict, complication, climax, suspense, final outcome and conclusion and sometimes if the writers wants to add more interesting scenes, they will shake up the recipe and add some spice. But Ang tatay mong kalbo is very different to others, it doesn't comply. There's just no basic through-line to analyze here. There's no conflict that builds to a climax and then is resolved. There's no protagonist who wants anything. The characters mostly just chill out, saying things that may or may not mean anything, and then end their conversation with yelling things at each other that don't make any sense. Ang tatay mong kalbo still the best and a great example of  a play even if it's breaking the rules still manages to entertain.

At first, I feel very confuse. I don’t know what’s going on and what’s happening. There’s so many questions popping on my head like why are they like that?, what are they doing? and why are they talking nonsense things?. After a numerous of solving on how to resolve my problems  to this play, I realize that it is a absurd play. Their endless, meaningless conversations and repetitive words represent the absurdist view of human existence. The Santos and Reyes could be said to represent every human being on Earth.

About the title Ang tatay mong kalbo, many of us got confused not only me but most of the students are. But someone told me that do not force myself too much trying to figure out the title, he said that the play is purposefully of all kinds of nonsensical things.

Lastly I would like to say that the play wouldn’t be like that if the actors and actresses are not good and also the people who make the stage lovely. I would like to give them a round of applause to them. I really see their hard work on props to acting.

3.) Turn left Turn right

We are required to watch this movie and I’m happy because were just going to watch, but I’ve become more happy when I saw the whole story.

The story is all about a girl name Eve choi a struggling translator who lives alone in Tapei apartment. She has a longtime crush , for a boy who once helped her on some high school trip. That boy magically transformed into John Liu. John has a shy personality and a loner who has practically no friends. He also has a longtime crush for a girl he’s never really known and that is Eve,  who besides longing for her happens to live right next door. Yes, the two crossed lovers live in adjoining apartment buildings separated by one brick wall, and the only reason they never meet is because every day one turns right and the other turns left. That all changes when they finally met on a same park fountain where they help one another when their respective paperwork the translations for Eve and the sheet  music for John gets knocked into the fountain. What they discover when they are hanging out and make some talk is that they are the one who are they dreaming and wishing to meet someday. That quick revelation turns into a dream-date day, as the two spend their time playing with local pets, teasing local babies, and riding the carousel at the park to their hearts' content. They also, laugh, mug and generally giggle to reams of tinkly piano music.

Times pass by and still doesn’t know that they live in a same apartment and they didn’t notice that they always passing by each other. It all change when these two people came in to their life, Ruby and Dr. Hu. Ruby is a waitress and a delivery girl at a local fast-food eatery, and also manages to deliver the exact same meals to both John and Eve. The first time Ruby saw John I think she has this feeling of love at first site, Ruby spends her time acting spiteful, possessive, downright disrespectful. When Eve gets sent to hospital, Dr. Hu recognizes her as a former college classmate , and then decides that she will be in his arms. Until Ruby went to John’s apartment and Dr. Hu went to Eve’s apartment to wait a call for someone, because there is a scene that Eve and John exchange numbers but suddenly the droplets of rain falls and the numbers they exchange were smudge.

Both Ruby and Dr. Hu give up because they know that Eve and John doesn’t like them. There is scene that Ruby and Dr. Hu met in a bar and that's the day they became a lover. And until Ruby and Dr. Hu made a plan that the outcome is to met Eve and John. Ruby give a phone number to John but Ruby didn’t tell to John that it is Eve’s number likewise Dr. John also.

Until Eve and John call that number they gave, but again failed. But there is a old phone call that you can record a message. And that day, they find out that phone number wasn’t Ruby nor Dr. Hu but Eve and John. And lastly the very best part is when they knew that numbers are for them they immediately get the phone and call each other. Until an earthquake begin to shake the house and break the wall. And finally they’ve met.

There is a quote in the movie “Life is full of coincidences…even two parallel limns might some day meet” and I think it's true, life is full of surprises, we don't know what will happen, what are the next chapters on our lives. Maybe the person you saw last night , last morning or awhile ago is you destiny.

2.) Be part of Heneral Luna

We all know that watching movies like love stories, mysteries, actions and fairy tales are one of the mostly liked by teenagers but when it comes to historical movies only few people like watching it. We all know that for some people history is boring especially when it comes to lectures, one of the things that people hate is memorization, too many things to memorize. When we study history, we memorize some stuff like dates and events for exams. The most terrible part is that we memorize it and completely forgets about it for the test. When it comes to historical movies, I observe that most of the people don't find it interesting. If I'm going to choose between fictional or historical movie, I'm definitely going to choose fictional movie. But these things completely change my mind after I watched the movie Heneral Luna, things that change my viewpoints, things that made me realize that history is not boring as we think and things that give lessons that we can apply to our lives.

Heneral Luna received mostly positive reviews from film critics in the Philippines and historians alike, and is now considered to be one of greatest Filipino movies of all time. Did you know that Heneral Luna has also been chosen to represent the country in the Best Foreign Film category at the Oscars in 2016. It's really ecstatic to see that many people are giving these kind of magnificent reviews because most of the time historical movies are not that popular to people and most of the time historical movies don't receive this kind of review.

The Heneral Luna movie is really different from other historical movies I've watched. It has a modern style type so the teenagers can be also part of the movie like they can relate or what's trending so it will not be boring to them, such as adding some comedy scenes.

I think Heneral Luna is one of my favorite movies. It has an impact to me, it gives me goosebumps especially when I saw the trailer. When they visit Asia Pacific College (APC)  to promote this movie, at first I thought it really boring because there just talking , introducing who are the cast and explaining what is in the movie and I really don't expect that it has this kind of captivating magic to me, it's like hypnotizing me.

It is truly an excellent piece of Filipino cinema. I really recommend this movie to everyone to watch. This is just not only a good movie but also gives meaning on our lives and to our country.

1.) Me, myself and I

Mariane Viray, a girl just like others, a girl who has many dreams and a girl who wants a simple life. And that’s me. My parents and my friends call me Mj but I prefer calling Mariane because Mj is too boyish, I’m a 99 liner, I’m a college student or what you call “freshmen” and I’m taking up Tourism Management (BSTM). I spend my 90% of the day talking about kpop and the other 10% is for other stuffs like school, so most of the time after I finished my school works I immediately get my tablet and spazz. And when someone ask me “Why are you like that?”, I will answer “ Once you enter Kpop World you can never get out, kpop change my boring world and I’m happy for who I am”.

Walking around and wondering about the same stuff all over and over again. There are so much question and thoughts that I want to share or either to just keep it all by myself. So after fighting against my ideas and plans, I came up with this blog. Within my sixteen years of existence I experienced and tried different things out of my curiosity. And also because I'm an endeavor of this modern generation my vision becomes that far and wide to know many things. In this world, every second counts in making one thing happen. That's why, one thing that I will never regret is when a simple word or even a state of nation, "KOREA" entered my life. From the time I was so shy and even not sociable with people around me, I've become more optimistic and friendly. So I want to share my knowledge and know-how stuff when it comes to being a feeling koreana like. I will also share some of my experience on our school events and activities.

Once again this is Mariane Viray and I will share my experience and new things that you never knew before and may be also a part of your life.
